Mouton Vert

When we go out, we tend to stick to the same spots. Now that we’re vegan, instead of vegetarian, some of our usual favourites are off the list. So we decided it would be great to try all the vegan restaurants that we’d just never gotten around to trying! First up, Mouton Vert.

I can’t even count how many times I’ve driven by, thinking “I should try that place someday.” So glad it happened. Vic and I spent a very nice hour enjoying the food, the people, and the dogs! Mouton Vert is right below Canine & Compagnie, a pet supply store. There are so many fun and entertaining pups walking by. Some hang out on the steps while their humans grab a bite.

The space is so green! I didn’t ask, but it looks to me like they grow their own herbs. Basil, thyme, lavender, and more, all growing in pots in the patio area. It makes for a cozy vibe.

Inside, the space is warm and inviting. During the lunch hour people are constantly flowing through the door. Many of them seem to be regulars, which speaks to the quality of the food and service. We’ll definitely go back.

The food is of a Mediterranean influence. There were half a dozen different specials of the day. They all looked delicious, but we were in a sandwich mood. We ordered a grilled vegetable sandwich and a falafel sandwich from the regularly available menu. Both very good! Paired with local maple syrup sodas from Bec.

For dessert, a blueberry custard pastry, dusted in icing sugar. I have always been a huge pastry fan. Since going vegan, this has easily been the thing I crave most. There are none near my home, so it’s always a treat when I find one!

Mouton Vert is a vegetarian restaurant, with tons of vegan options. The guy behind the counter was really friendly and great and pointing out the MANY vegan options on the menu. An experience we’ll repeat again soon!
