5 of the Best Vegan Spots in Vancouver, BC

Vancouver Vegan Food

You are lucky to have so many great options out west! Montreal has its fair share too, but I guess we don’t eat out as often here as we do when we travel. When we go out in Montreal, we tend to stick to our favourites. I guess we’re more adventurous when we travel, wanting to give everything a try! Vancouver vegan food did not disappoint.

When I started to make a list of all the vegan restaurants we’d been to out there, I was surprised at how quickly it grew. Many are good enough to earn a post of their own and a mention on this list, but for now I thought it would be fun to put together a short list of our favourites.

Feelin’ Fancy

The chefs at The Acorn are artists. The plates are creative, interesting, and sure to leave you in awe, if only for just a moment. The food tastes as good as it looks. I don’t normally eat food that looks like this and you can’t help but feel a little fancy doing it. Definitely an experience worth repeating and possibly the best food on the Vancouver vegan scene.

Freshly Baked

Plant-based pastries can be hard to find. Edible Flours will satisfy your craving for a fresh croissant. If you like Daiya, try the cheese croissant! They also have cookies, cupcakes, loaves, and more.

Pizza Perfection

Gone are the days of ordering bread, sauce, and veggies. Though not yet a year old, Virtuous Pie has changed the pizza game with a variety of ambitious options. Ultraviolet was our favourite of the five we tried. Yes, five. Our advice? With so many great choices, opt for something other than Margherita. You’ll be glad you did. And if you’re still hungry, there’s ice cream. Still wishing I had tried it.

Cruelty-Free Treats

Who doesn’t love fresh, gourmet donuts? We’ve been here twice together. The first time there was only one vegan option left. The second time we had five to choose from.  We’re split on favourites here. Victoria liked the Apple Fritter, but I preferred the Vanilla Bean. Neither of us loved the Maple Smoked Walnut. They have 3 locations to visit.

Late Night Cravings

Sometimes you just want to stuff your face at midnight. The Naam is perfect for that. It’s open 24/7 and has been around for almost 50 years, so they’re doing something right! The food is great and the portions are generous. The Pad Thai was a favourite. We also hear the pies are awesome, but there just wasn’t room in our stomachs to eat anything else after dinner. I went back again for breakfast on a later trip. The tofu scramble was nice and the pancakes were big and fluffy. Definitely serving up some of the best comfort food the Vancouver vegan scene has to offer.

The Naam (vegan options)

We are so excited to announce that for the next two weeks The NAAM will be serving a trial run of the @tempeafoods Soy Tempeh patties 🌱 This #glutenfree tempeh is locally made, fresh & is also FULL of probiotic culture goodness. So come in and try a Tempeh Reuben (with either cheese or vegan @daiyafoods cheese) served on a @bonchaz Multigrain Bun! You can also substitute Tempeh for tofu in any of our Dragon Bowls or other main dishes. We’re already in love so If you guys like it, we hope to have Tempea tempeh available permanently!💜 ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ . . . . . . . #NAAMlife #eatlocal #smallbusiness #plantbased #whatveganseat #vegansofvancouver #vancityvegans #vegansofig #vegan #veganfoodshare #foodporn #vegansofinstagram #healthyeating #wholefood #wholesome #vegetarian #healthy #healthychoices #thriving #crueltyfree #vanfoodie #yvreats #yvrfood #kitsilano
